Privacy Policy

How EcomTracker collects, uses and protects your account details and the product catalogue you track with us.

The short version

Not a substitute for the full policy below, but this is the substance of it.

  • ✓ We never ask for your Amazon or Flipkart seller login
  • ✓ We track publicly visible listing pages only
  • ✓ Your catalogue is never pooled, shared or sold
  • ✓ You can export your data, or ask us to delete it

EcomTracker is a competitor price-tracking service for sellers on Indian marketplaces. This policy explains what information we collect when you use it, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. It applies to the EcomTracker website, web application and any email reports we send you.

We have tried to write this in plain language. If anything here is unclear, write to us at contact@ecomtracker.in and we will explain it properly.

01

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an EcomTracker account we collect your name, email address and a password (stored only as a cryptographic hash, never in readable form). If you subscribe to a paid plan we also collect your business name, billing address and GSTIN where applicable.

Payment information

Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment processor and are not stored on EcomTracker servers. We receive only a payment reference, the last four digits of the card, and whether a charge succeeded.

Usage information

We record basic technical information about how the service is used — browser and device type, approximate region derived from IP address, pages opened and features used — to keep the service working and to decide what to improve.

Communications

If you email support, book a demo or fill in a form, we keep that correspondence so we can answer you and refer back to it if you write again.

02

Your catalogue & tracking data

The core of EcomTracker is the list of products you track and the competitor listings you have chosen to watch against each one. Together with the price history we build up over time, this is commercially sensitive information about your business, and we treat it that way.

Our commitment

We do not pool, aggregate, resell or publish your tracking data. Your product list, your competitor selections and your price history are visible only to your own account and the team members you invite. We do not build a market-intelligence dataset out of what our customers choose to track, and we do not use one customer's catalogue to inform another customer's account.

This data is used for one purpose: to generate the reports, graphs and alerts you signed up for.

03

Marketplace price data

EcomTracker works by reading publicly available listing pages on Amazon India and Flipkart — the same pages any shopper can open — and recording the price, seller name and stock status shown there.

  • ✓ We never request or store your marketplace seller-account credentials
  • ✓ We do not access your orders, payouts, customer details or internal seller dashboards
  • ✓ We collect no personal information about the competitors you track beyond the publicly displayed seller name

Because this information is already public, it is not personal data about you. It becomes associated with your account only in the sense that you chose to track it.

04

How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • ✓ Create, authenticate and manage your account
  • ✓ Run the nightly price checks and generate your reports, graphs and alerts
  • ✓ Deliver email reports at the time you have chosen
  • ✓ Process payments and manage your subscription
  • ✓ Answer your support requests
  • ✓ Send service messages such as billing notices, downtime warnings and material changes to the product
  • ✓ Diagnose faults, prevent abuse and keep the platform secure
  • ✓ Understand which features are used, so we know what to build next

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Marketing emails, if you opt into them, can be unsubscribed from at any time without affecting the service reports you have configured.

05

Cookies & analytics

We use cookies that are necessary for the service to function — chiefly to keep you signed in and to remember interface preferences such as your saved views. These cannot be switched off without breaking the application.

We also use a small number of analytics cookies to understand how the site and dashboard are used in aggregate. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may sign you out and reset your preferences.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

06

Where your data is stored

Account information, catalogue data and price history are stored on servers operated by our infrastructure providers. Backups are taken regularly and are protected by the same access controls as live data.

Where data is processed or stored outside India, we take steps to ensure it continues to receive a level of protection consistent with this policy and with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

07

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of third-party providers to operate EcomTracker — cloud hosting, a payment gateway, an email delivery service and analytics. These providers process data on our instructions and only to the extent needed to perform their function.

We share the minimum necessary with each: our email provider receives your address and the content of your report; our payment gateway receives your billing details; our hosting provider stores the data the application runs on. None of them is permitted to use your information for their own marketing.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to — for example in response to a valid order from a court or authority — or where it is necessary to investigate fraud or protect the safety of our users.

08

Security

We use standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit over TLS, hashed password storage, role-based access controls limiting which staff can reach production data, and logging of administrative access.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your own password confidential and for managing who you invite into your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, contact us immediately at contact@ecomtracker.in.

09

Data retention

Account and catalogue data are retained for as long as your account remains open. Price history is kept for the life of the account, because its value is precisely that it accumulates over time.

When you close your account, we delete your catalogue, competitor selections and price history within a reasonable period. Billing and transaction records are retained for longer where tax and company law require it. Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule, so deleted data may persist briefly in backup copies before being erased.

10

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may:

  • ✓ Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • ✓ Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
  • ✓ Ask us to delete your personal information and close your account
  • ✓ Export your catalogue and price history as CSV at any time from the dashboard
  • ✓ Withdraw consent for optional processing, such as marketing email
  • ✓ Raise a grievance with us, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved

Write to contact@ecomtracker.in to exercise any of these. We will respond within a reasonable period and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11

Children's privacy

EcomTracker is a business tool intended for ecommerce sellers and their staff. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the product, our providers, or legal requirements. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always shows the current version.

For material changes — anything that meaningfully alters what we collect or how we use it — we will notify account holders by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use EcomTracker after that date indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
